SPAR Craic 10k – 2017
The Third annual SPAR Craic 10K run returns and will be taking place in Belfast on St Patrick’s Day 2017. We are confident this year will be bigger and better than before! The ‘SPAR Craic 10K’ will see over one thousand runners take to the streets of the city on the morning of March 17 in what has been described as Belfast’s first urban run.
The race will leave City Hall at 9am, linking West and East Belfast as the route passes through the Gaeltacht and Cathedral Quarters before finishing at the Titanic Slipways.
Last year, over 1300 runners took to the street on St. Patrick’s morning, which was won by Andrew Annett who completed the course in 32:56. With the emphasis of this event being on fun it is fast-becoming a traditional start to St Patrick’s Day festivities across the globe. Stay in Belfast and take part in the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, see more info here: http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/events/Event-74981.aspx
This year, the charity partner is Marie Curie, meaning those taking part will not only be doing something that will benefit their own health, but will be helping a very worthy cause.
Organisers of the cross-community event hope as many families as possible take part, beginning their St Patrick’s Day celebrations in a healthy and worthy way, before joining the civic celebrations in the city centre afterwards. The race also comes at a perfect time for those hoping to take part on the Belfast City Marathon in early May. It’s a tough challenge, but could you do it?
